How the record is kept

Sourcing. Biographies must be supported by verifiable sources: primary documents, academic scholarship, reputable reference works, and established journalism. Substantial claims should carry inline citations, with a source list at the end of the entry. Online references should link to the specific source; books may instead be identified by their title, author, publisher, and publication date.

Original writing. Entries are original prose. Structured facts may be drawn from open data (such as Wikidata), and biographies are drafted with AI assistance. Automated checks cover article structure, citation numbering, metadata, identity safeguards, and references. Entries that pass these checks can be published automatically. Failed checks leave the draft for further work.

Human review. Automated checks do not establish the truth of every claim and are not a substitute for a human fact check. When a human review has been recorded, the entry identifies the reviewer. Entries without that credit have not been recorded as human reviewed. Ambiguous identities and inadequate sourcing require further research before publication.

Corrections. Any reader may submit a correction slip from any entry. A correction must name its source. Editors verify the source before amending the record; accepted changes appear in the entry's public revision history with credit to the contributor. Contributions are licensed CC BY-SA 4.0.

Living persons. Entries about living people are held to the strictest standard: contentious claims require multiple independent reputable sources, and unsourced contentious material is removed immediately upon notice. Subjects of entries may write to the Keeper at any time.

Religious and cultural sensitivity. Entries on religious figures are written with care for the traditions that honor them, including, where customary, the use of honorifics and the omission of figurative depictions.
